CORNISH HOLIDAY COMPANY CELEBRATES ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY CORNISH self-catering holiday specialist Aspects Holidays, is celebrating after reaching its 20th Anniversary.Having launched the company in St Ives in 1989 with 25 properties, Jennie Smith has seen the company grow where today it markets over 200 properties around the St Ives area, playing host to thousands of holidaymakers coming to West Cornwall every year. The company has also expanded to meet the increasing demand for it’s holidays, and now operates from purpose built administrative offices on the Hayle Business Park as well as a customer/owner showroom office on the harbour front, in St Ives. It has also become the first holiday cottage company in the county to achieve the ‘Investors in People’ (IIP) status.“It’s incredible to think that we have now reached our 20th anniversary. The time has absolutely flown by,” said Jennie.“Since opening our doors, we have sold almost 40,000 weeks of holidays which equates to nearly 769 years, and literally welcomed hundreds of thousands of people to our properties.“We have also seen some really big changes in the industry since 1989, not least of which has been the development of the internet in what has become the most popular way for people to look for holiday accommodation.“People’s expectations and standards have also increased significantly. When we started the business in 1989, it was commonplace for customers to bring their own linen and to pay for gas and electricity at the end of the holiday – all light years away from the levels of service guests expect and are offered today,”Jennie explained.
The company celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a party at its offices in Hayle where over 100 people attended, including staff, friends, family and property owners.“We have been very lucky to work with owners who have stayed loyal to Aspects Holidays and the party was our way of saying thank you to them and to the people who work so hard at Aspects and literally help make people’s holidays happen. We were delighted to see so many people there,” said Jennie.“Every year we have seen a steady growth in both the number of properties we have been able to offer visitors and the amount of people we have seen booking, which is a trend we hope to continue in the next phase of our development, and the signs for 2010 are already looking very good,” she added. For more information on Aspects Holidays visit www.aspects-holidays.co.uk or call 01736 754242.
