Holidays in Mousehole

Mousehole is an idyllic village and fishing port with quaint cobbled streets full of bistros and art-galleries. Sit on the harbour and admire views of St Michael’s Mount or take a short drive to nearby Marazion to walk along the golden sands.

Mousehole is a great community with a fantastic atmosphere, and self catering in Mousehole is effortless. Enjoy harbour views and artisan foods at Mousehole Deli & kitchen, afternoon tea at the Tremayne Tea Room or sit down for an evening meal at 2 Fore Street, a French bistro-style restaurant on Mousehole harbour front. Finish off your evening with a pint of local ale at the Ship Inn, one of the famous St Austell Brewery establishments. For more info, read our blog post on Eating out in Mousehole.

Things to do in Mousehole

Mousehole is best when entered on foot, or bus, or bike. Cars are not the way to see Mousehole and best left outside. If you have to bring a car, there’s a big car park on the Penzance side of the village, close to The Old Coastguard Hotel.

Christmas lights

Mousehole has celebrated Christmas with beautiful lights for 40 years! The village is a winter wonderland in the dark nights and grey seas of winter. Many villages have light shows today but Mousehole is special. Holiday cottages overlooking the harbour always enjoy an extra special Cornish Christmas. Read more on our blog about Mousehole lights.

Walks around Mousehole

For those who are not so content with staying in their holiday homes, the walks around Mousehole are a joy all year round.  There are some fabulous circular walks but we think there's something particularly satisfying about catching a bus from Mousehole and walking back in (especially if your walk exits the village in a north of westerly direction; you'll soon discover the town is nestled at the bottom of a very steep hill!)  Read our blog on Mousehole Walks.

Coasteering in Mousehole

If you're seeking adrenaline and adventure, check out Coasteering Adventures.

Mousehole is one of Cornwall’s top Coasteering destinations. Nestled in the shelter of Mounts Bay, Mousehole offers multiple coasteering routes for all ages and abilities. Coasteering Adventures are thrilled to be the exclusive provider of coasteering from this location. Book an adventure and you will experience cliff jumping, sea swimming, climbing, bouldering, exploring caves and floating through gullies. With each session tailored to the group, you can choose the level that you are comfortable with.

Dating back to the 13th century Mousehole has a rich history tying it to the sea. 1595 saw all but 1 house (which still stands today) burned to the ground by the Spanish armada. 100 Years later Mousehole became a haven for the ‘Barbary Pirates’ with a number of caves on the route being where their treasure was hidden. During the 1800’s Mousehole settled into a thriving fishing village and you’ll regularly see the small fishing boats from Mousehole pass our groups whilst out on route.

A brief history of Mousehole

Today Mousehole is beautiful and welcoming holiday destination This popular holiday destination has seen more than its fair share of hardtimes tragedy over the years.

The Quay was built in 1392, holding the harbour like a pair of protective arms. Fishing was always important to Mousehole. These days there are fewer boats fishing from the village but there is an active fishing fleet operating out of nearby Newlyn, a town worth a visit on its own account. Tom Bawcock's Eve, Mousehole

Every year, the people of Mousehole celebrate the bravery of Tom Bawcock. Years ago, when the boats couldn't get out in the storms, the villages had no fish to eat. Tom dared to take his boat out and returned with enough fish to make a Star Gazey fish pie for the whole village.

Our third stay here. Cosy and comfortable with great views.

This was our first time we stayed at Marracks (normally on Fisherman’s Square). It was perfect and had everything you need. Very well equipped and good location for the village Will 100% stay at Marracks again

Great cottage, fab location, warm and cosy- we are returning!!

This is a super little cottage for two. Mousehole is an excellent location although busy.

Beautiful cottage, well equipped in a lovely location. We are happy to come back and stay here time after time.

Excellent cottage, excellent location.

This was our 4th return visit to this lovely holiday cottage. Long may we continue to stay again.

We had a brilliant week at Marracks Cottage, it was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. Fantastic location in the village with beautiful views. We'd love to come back and stay here again.

Beautiful cottage, with everything you need!! Lovely log burner, for cold nights!! Comfortable beds, plenty of storage space! Nice bathroom & walk in shower!! All the modern kitchen appliances, washing machine, dishwasher etc…

We love it here, in beautiful Mousehole ?? Definitely highly recommend!! ??

Marrack's cottage was without a doubt our favourite cottages we have stayed in. Great location, a wonderful family feel to the home and really well equipped. You get a real sense of the history of the cottage and the owners clearly take great pride in that. The garden out the front is a real sun trap in the mornings and nice to while away an hour with a coffee during that time. We look forward to booking again ASAP!

Had a lovely time at Marracks, garden is a big Bonus. House was clean and well Stocked. Look forward to returning.

Excellent property would recommend to anyone.

Marracks cottage is in a great location with sea views. Inside, the cottage was nicely decorated, cosy and welcoming with comfy beds and a good shower. We loved the little garden area too...great for a morning coffee or an evening drink.

Lovely cottage, close to centre with good restaurant and pub nearby. Can be a bit noisy, though

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Being just a few steps from the main road into Mousehole, you will hear some traffic noise from time to time, especially during the busier summer months and over Christmas when everyone visits the famous Mousehole lights. However, its location means that you are just a short stroll to the harbour, the lovely little shops, pub and characterful streets of Mousehole, and minutes from getting on to the coast path for exploring a bit more of the beautiful coastline around there. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed it. Tanya, Customer Services

Excellent cottage in an ideal location.

Marrack Cottage is beautifully furnished and ideally located in the centre of Mousehole. With views of the harbour from the cottage, and a fantastic front courtyard with table and chairs, it has everything you needed. We would highly recommend for a relaxing family stay. Loved it.

Amazing cottage with sea view just 1 min walk from Mousehole harbour. Perfect location and facilities for a family of four. Nice unexpected outdoor area which was great for evening drinks and bbqs

We very much enjoyed our stay - have booked again for next year!

Beautiful cottage, perfectly placed to tour the cornish coastline. Highly recommended.

We spent a great week here in April, the perfect post-lockdown tonic. In a great position to access the quay but be far enough away to not be disturbed by all the people down there. It is next to the road but the only traffic you hear is the local bus, which is still quieter than the seagulls! The foregarden/patio has been improved and is now a lovely place to sit in the sun from early morning to late afternoon. Best place to park is the quay (£3/24 hrs) but only about 30 spaces. Marracks is cosy and comfortable, very well equipped kitchen and generally very well decorated and furnished, and most importantly very comfy beds.

Marrack’s Cottage is beautiful, with its log burner it is lovely and warm in an evening after a chilly stroll down by the sea! Also a great location ??

The beds were really comfortable, and the linen was lovely and fresh. The kitchen was really well equipped, and the fan oven cooks better than mine! Plenty of room in the freezer, which is separate next to the fridge. Plenty of room in the spacious shower too!

There is a few steps up to the front door, but if you find it difficult to climb then you can use the back door of the cottage instead.

All in all, we had a wonderful stay here, and we will definitely be back, we are missing it already!

We had a fantastic time. The cottage was cozy and warm with a lovely sea view. We paid for parking at the school but only used it once as we were able to park on the road. We have already booked for next Easter! Highly recommended.

This is a very special cottage. Excellent interior and one of the best views of the harbour

Stunning little cozy welcoming Cottage, excellent location 1 min walk to harbor and deli pub would highly recommend. only down side No parking so be ready to pay £9 per 24 hrs.

Lovely location, spacious house with great decor and all mod cons, thoroughly recommended!

Superb cottage in lovely village, cottage very well thought out & comfortable with good views of harbour & village, had really good weeks holiday

The perfect cottage for a week's stay. Charming decor, everything you need, great location.

Lovely cottage, lovely location.

We found this a very comfortable cottage and enjoyed our stay.

Brand new Levels place. We felt very very comfortable there

What a little gem of a cottage in a lovely idyllic location....beautiful! Marracks cottage is very well laid out and very well equipped, which makes for a very enjoyable stay. We found the cottage very relaxing and cosy and only very short walk to the harbour which you can also see from the windows. Local bus service is excellent if you want to leave the car behind and enjoy the views. We would definitely stay there again and also use Aspects Holidays as there service was a 100%

Spent a relaxing stay at marracks cottage. A cosy cottage with a view of the harbour. Put your feet up and relax! Lovely ??

A lovely, comfortable, clean and spacious property in a great location. We had a lovely holiday and would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Lovely cosy cottage with beautiful view of the harbour.

Marracks is a lovely cottage; very cosy and homely. Despite the draughty livingroom we really enjoyed our stay and would definately come back! Thank you Aspects Holidays for your great service.

Holidaymakers should be aware that although the cottage is in a convenient location, its proximity to the road means quite a lot of traffic noise. We were aware of this when booking so we have no cause for complaint.

A very comfortable and quaint cottage, perfect for a getaway in Mousehole.

Marracks cottage was lovely and comfortable. Excellent services from Aspects.

A beautiful comfortable cottage in a great location wih superb views of the village and sea.

Lovely cottage, ideally situated for a quiet day, or a busier day in Newlyn or Penzance, or walking the coastal paths. Very clean and well equipped.

Beautiful little cottage set in a perfect location for enjoying the delights that Mousehole has to offer. Lovely open plan living space and fire to keep you warm in the evenings. We had an absolutely lovely time and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Very cosy, warm and comfy. Well located
