Superb location on the coastal path

March 2024

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Cove cottage. We loved the amazing view onto priest cove and Cape Cornwall, and going to sleep with the sound of the sea was lovely. Great walks along the coastal path, and they were very accessible from the cottage. The cottage itself was fabulous, and the extension with the wonderful view very well designed and in keeping with the rest of the house. Everything was beautifully clean, the kitchen well equipped and a great downstairs shower, even for tall people like us. The wood burner stove was a great asset for a stormy evening, we loved it. We felt very welcome when we arrived, with daffodils in a vase, tasty biscuits and the wood burner prepared, all we had to do is to light it, with spare logs available. The beds were comfy, too. We had a few problems with the heating but the assistant on the phone was very helpful. Thank you so much, it couldn't have been better. Marion and Colin Ball

Holidays in Cape Cornwall

Located a stone's throw from St Just, Cape Cornwall is one of only two 'capes' in Britain, the other being Cape Wrath in Scotland. Situated on the South West Coast Path, with walks towards St Ives and Land's End, a climb up the cape headlands to the mining stack reveals breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Dogs are welcome all year round at Cape Cornwall, and an array of outdoor pursuits including clifftop walking, cycling, swimming and golfing, make it perfect for those looking to enjoy the great outdoors. Self catering holidays in Cape Cornwall are ideal for those looking to relax in a secluded area of West Cornwall.

Did you know...

Cape Cornwall was once believed to be the most westerly point in Cornwall.

A brief history about Cape Cornwall

Cape Cornwall is the only Cape so called in England. Up until the 18th century, it was thought that Cape Cornwall was the most westerly point in Britain, until accurate surveying found Land's End to be slightly further West. Cape Cornwall was bought by H.J.Heinz and given to the National Trust in 1987. You will find the ruins of St. Helen’s Oratory here along with a National Trust Car Park and National Coastwatch lookout. Like the lighthouse, Coastwatch plays a vital role in the safety of shipping. Read about the history of the area on our blog: West Penwith - Through the ages.

Things to do at Cape Cornwall

Priest Cove
The popular rocky beach at Priest Cove has a small, man-made tidal pool, which makes a safe place for children to swim and the dog friendly beach makes it an ideal place for a family day out. Priest Cove looks out towards the Brisons, where an annual swim from Brisons into Priest Cove takes place. The Brisons rock formation, just off the beach is said to resemble Charles De Gaulle in the bath!

Cape Cornwall Golf Course
A par 69 challenge on a natural course ranging across farmland and cliffs with a mix of challenging holes.
Read more on our blog post about Golf Courses in West Cornwall.

Ride the Open-Top Bus
If you want to give your feet and legs a rest, you can hop on the No 300 Bus, known as the open-top. The double decker trundles through high-hedged Cornish roads. It goes on a circular route around West Penwith. It's easy to hop on and to hop off. Don't forget that sunscreen!

Fantastic location and lovely property. Be warned that in the winter months it is cold inside and logs for the fire are needed as none are supplied.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed Cove Cottage and its fabulous location on Cape Cornwall. We are sorry to hear that you found it cold. This is not something that has been raised here before, so we will monitor comments about temperature over the coming months just in case heating system isn't as efficient as usual. Owners usually supply a starter pack of logs to get you going, but guests would need to purchase additional supplies if required. We are sorry of this wasn't expected or if the initial supply of logs was missed. Thanks again for your comments. Lucy, Customer Services

Cove Cottage is a lovely house in a wonderful position. It is very warm and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen and lots of books ,games etc. We are always happy just to sit and watch the birds and the sea, then the amazing sunsets, but also love having a swim in the little tidal pool.

We had a lovely week at Cove cottage. The location is superb with beautiful views from the sun room and the patio. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The setting is calm and peaceful and there are excellent coastal path walks. We look forward to returning in the future.

I am not sure whether to tell people about the magical world around Cove Cottage. It really is a very special place to relax and unwind, to listen to the sea and envelope yourself in the British weather (whatever it brings.) On glorious sunny days it is a peaceful haven, fabulous sunsets on your doorstep and wildlife abounding in the garden. Climb to the top of Cape Cornwall and the vista is superb. On stormy days it holds its own, being so warm and comfortable with great cooking facilities so you can remain tucked up in comfort. Fantastic coastal walks either side. A magical place that you will want to return to time and time again.

An absolutely gorgeous cottage in a dream location. Beautifully furnished, well-equipped and extremely comfortable. Definitely feels more like a stylish country home than a holiday rental. Close enough to civilisation (St Just) for everything you might need. Wonderful walks from the door mean you don’t need to move the car unless you want to venture further afield. We found it hard to leave the area around the Cape as it’s so spectacular and ever changing. Abundant wildlife, including seals, foxes ravens, choughs, kestrels and peregrines. Had dinner on the terrace and then a sunset walk every evening. (Take layers as even in summer the evenings can be cool and very breezy). Felt wonderful to be so close to nature, the sea, the landscape and the weather. Aspects seem great so would happily recommend. We’ve just got back but already looking forward to next year.

Wonderful traditional cottage with newly build sunroom - with what must be one of the best views in Cornwall. Tasteful but unpretentious decor. I loved to drink a mug of tea first thing in the morning sitting on the side entrance steps ( sunny spot ) looking at the sea, listening to the larks. Pure bliss. Cape Cornwall is beautiful and was always one of my favourite places in Cornwall. The cottage made it perfect.

So lovely to return to Cove Cottage, a real home-from-home. I love that the car is not essential once you're here, St Just is not too far to walk & has an excellent choice of cafes & shops to get your provisions. The Little Wonder Cafe that is a stone's throw away from the cottage (in the NT car park) offers delicious drinks, pasties, ice creams & cakes too. The sun room is perfect, and a great place to sit and enjoy the amazing views - the sunsets never get boring, and the many birds that visit the area. We were fortunate to see choughs for the first time at the cottage this year, so that was amazing.

4th visit to Cove Cottage so we obviously like it! The location is unbeatable. I spend hours in the sunroom reading, watching the waves and enjoying the regular sightings of Cornwall's majestic choughs.

A beautiful house in a stunning location.

A stunning location and a cottage that hugs. It's an exceptionally special property, cosy warm and a place to become immersed in nature. Just wonderful.

The quintessential get-away on the cliffs. With all the home comforts as well. Not far from St Just so well connected to local facilities. Penwith is a different part of Cornwall and is well worth visiting.

5 star service all round.

Cove Cottage is a spectacular place to stay. The views take your breath away, and there are lovely walks. We loved the peace and solitude in Priest's Cove and enjoyed wandering among the Dartmoor ponies. Although it feels like you are miles from anywhere, St Just is not far at all and full of great cafes, pubs and shops. The Dog and Rabbit was a firm favourite. A little caveat - the steps at the front are very steep and uneven as stated in the description, but also the internal staircase has a low overhang and it is easy to bang your head on the way down. The shower is very good, but the cubicle is very small and the shower head is very low down, so again not ideal for tall people or the elderly. We are in our seventies and managed, but do take this into account when booking.

Thank you for your review and useful comments. Those sorts of things are certainly worth considering before booking, so we try to show and detail these as best as we can on the website details and in the photos. We do hope that this was what you expected. It certainly all helps to add to the charm. We are glad that you enjoyed this lovely property, those stunning views, and the walks that you can do from there. Hopefully we will see you back again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

Excellent service, Aspect holidays administrators most helpful, polite responses to questions, and the booking, reminders and confirmation of dates, times etc. very efficient. Example was, on arrival I had trouble accessing the key, I telephoned Aspect and although my fault (I read the instructions wrongly) Aspect were most helpful, giving instructions over the phone, and then emailing me full details immediately , very impressed.

We have used many holiday companies for holidays in UK and abroad, although most have been good to very good, we think that Aspect are amongst the very best for us.

Thank you

My second visit to Cove Cottage.....it's still perfect! The views from the cottage are amazing, and so lovely to look out at various times of the day to see how the view changes, especially with varying weather conditions - sitting in the warm with a cuppa watching stormy seas or enjoying the incredible sunsets. A definite home-from-home, perfect for us as we love walking, so nice to be able to not have to use the car at all; St Just has everything you need! Already booked for 2023!

A perfect location in an area where you can Relax to your hearts content, we could not wait for the morning to Open the sunroom doors and WOW what a view YOU WILL NEVER FORGET,Don’t Forget To Order Your Lobster From Steve Tregear Fisherman Down At Priest Cove.Pete &E Staffordshire X

Looking for a perfect location to relax Cove cannot be beaten stayed 2weeks in June staying 2 weeks in September already booked 3weeks in June 2023 ,Stayed 6 years running now, Speaks for itself. Pete& “E”.

What a find - a lovely cottage in the most wonderful location. Such a welcoming cottage from the cream tea we found on arrival, books, jigsaws, games, dvds etc to the general way the cottage is presented & equipped, more like a home rather than a rental property. So lovely to stay somewhere where you don't have to use the car everyday, the coast path is just outside the door, the walk to St Just is not too far & all downhill on the way back! The views are stunning, and the sunsets are not to be missed. We have already booked a return visit.

Should be renamed Chough Cottage! We saw them every day, including from the comfort of the bed with our morning cup of tea.

Cove cottage is in a stunning location and is a homely, very comfortable place to stay. The sun lounge has amazing views and is a fabulous place to spent a lazy day watching the waves. The sitting room with log burner is great for cooler evenings. Be aware the steps down to the house are steep and uneven and may be difficult for those who are less mobile. Their is a deep step down into the sunroom with a grab handle and the upstairs landing has a step in the middle of it which reduces the width of the hall landing. We love the cottage and can’t wait to return next year.

We are glad that you enjoyed this lovely cottage and stunning setting that it is in. The steps to the property and inside are definitely something that should be considered for those with more limited mobility in particular, but are well worth it for those stunning views and homely feel that you get from this property. We try to show the internal steps as clearly as possible and include a description of the external ones and suitability on the website details, so we do hope that this was what you had expected when booking it and that it worked well for all of you. beautiful, perfect and peaceful hideaway

We holiday in the UK several times a year, with high end and luxury companies or in exceptional properties where you expect outstanding service. I can honestly say that the team at Aspects consistently outperform many of those companies, some of which will be very well known to you. I really can't fault you or think of any way that you could improve your service. I'll be in touch to discuss dates for next year's stay at Cove Cottage.

Shh! Don't tell anyone else. This is the BEST place we have stayed at in Cornwall. Fantastic!

Cove Cottage is beautifully positioned with views of the sea from almost all windows. It is warm and inviting and i cannot think of a better place to spend a few days in any weather or month of the year. Highly recommended.

Great location with lovely walks direct from the cottage. Warm and cosy with lovely views and very well equipped. Quiet in November, which was a bonus. Overall, a lovely week in a fantastic hideaway.

We highly recommend Cove Cottage and hope to stay again. The views are spectacular, the cottage is very comfortable and the setting is picturesque. We enjoyed just relaxing and watching the birds and other wildlife from the comfort of the sun room: the sunsets are amazing. We went on lovely walks and even managed a couple of quick dips in the tidal pool and sea at Priest’s Cove (in November!). St Just has good local shops and cafes (we loved The Cook Book Cafe) and we had an excellent Sunday lunch at the nearby golf club. Cape Cornwall is a very special place and the views from Cove Cottage are awesome!

Fantastic location. However by its very nature that can cause issues when going too and from the property as the road is very narrow in places and can become busy at certain times. The steps down to the property were not quite as bad as expected but the planting alongside the handrail could do with maintainable so it is more easily useable. Once inside the internal staircase to the bedrooms is pretty low and care must be taken to avoid hitting ones head. The landing is narrow and again requires caution. From the kitchen to the sun room there are two steps down. A grab rail is provided but the steps feel very steep and require care when negotiating with drinks, food etc. Barring in mind that both my wife and I have some mobility issues we booked knowing about access issues and accept that stairs etc can be difficult but feel more detail about the internal steps, stairs and flooring would be useful. Unfortunately we will not be booking again as any further deterioration in our health would make the property unsuitable.

Cove Cottage is a wonderful place to stay, with fantastic views out to sea. You can just sit and look at them all day, but it is also well situated for the coast path and near to St Just. The house is warm and comfortable, and the beds are excellent. We forgot to write in the Guest Book, but had a great tapas meal at Maria Chica’s in Pendeen!

I don’t want to recommend too much because it’ll reduce our chances for getting another booking!

Great place; made better by aspects service

This is a wonderful property for up to four people. The steps at the front may be an issue for someone with a mobility problem. It is well equiped and was clean. It is a wonderful location.with lovely walks along the coastal path. This was our fourth visit and the fifth is already booked, which says it all.

Cove Cottage exceeded our expectations. We loved the location. We enjoyed lots of coastal walks and watching the golfers and fishing boats coming and going. This is a truly special place and we have already registered our interest for 2023.

We have just spent a wonderful week in the comfort of Cove Cottage which is set in the most fabulous location. We could have spent the entire week in the sun room and on the terrace!

Booked for five years running do I need to say anymore

Cove Cottage is a lovely, warm comfortable house in a spectacular position. We have visited it often and always have a wonderful time. It is also close to St. Just for pubs and shops, and right on the coast path for great walks.

Everyone has bucket lists dreams and more this cottage has them all ticked ,love it xxx

What a wonderful place and run by wonderful people! Aspect really do go above any beyond; thank you guys!

There are very few places I have stayed with such an view. Each night we enjoyed a glass of wine on the patio as the sun went down after a day of walking the cape and beaches.

If you enjoy peace and quiet, alongside amazing views, this is the place for you. Don’t book too often though or I won’t be able to get my own slot!

Our FOURTH stay at Cove Cottage and we have booked our fifth stay. This perhaps says it all. It is like our home from home. A truly wonderful location especially if you like the coast, wonderful sea views. Lovely walks along the coast from the cottage. The cottage is well presented and clean (a big "Thank You" to the housekeeper). Details from Aspects Holidays regarding accessing the cottage and what to expect and do at this time of covid-19 were great.

Loved our stay in the cottage, and especially enjoyed the wonderful outlook over the landscape, with plenty of seating where we could simply take it all in. If you're into walking this spot is ideal, perfect for walks both long and short along the coast path. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could need for a perfect family holiday, the kitchen especially so - although those with children might find some of the drops in the garden a bit challenging.

Another superb holiday with Aspects at Cove Cottage, Cape Cornwall; from start to finish well organised and stress free booking experience and a superb holiday location. Recommended!

Very dirty and unhygienic. Fungi in bathroom. Stains and general filth. Very disappointing.

We are really sorry to hear this. That is certainly not the 'norm' for this property and housekeeper, who has always received very good feedback, so we can only apologise at this point. We would have immediately sent the housekeeper back had we been aware of your concerns at the time of your stay. Having now been made aware of this though, your comments have been discussed with the housekeeper and we will closely monitor further feedback, so thank you for bringing it to our attention. Cove Cottage is in one of the most beautiful locations in Cornwall: the views from the garden room were amazing and we enjoyed a very relaxing week.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. So many beautiful walks nearby and moments away from Priest's Cove. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped and has amazing views to Cape Cornwall across the Atlantic. Fell asleep each night, listening to the waves. You couldn't be made to feel more welcome, if you were a family friend. The cottage is also left spotlessly clean upon arrival. Couldn't fault a single thing

The cottage was in an amazing location with spectacular views, could not have wished for anywhere better. It was very well equipped and very cosy, absolutely loved the log burner - a real delight to stay in will definitely be back to stay again

Just wow! Cove Cottage is spectacular, cosy, comfy, beautiful and just... wow. We didn’t have a single dry day the whole week but we didn’t care, sitting by the woodburner watching a film, sitting in the sunroom with a cup of tea watching the waves... even when we braved the weather for a walk we knew we were coming back to a warm and comfy cottage with all the facilities we needed.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage and I’m already planning the next booking!

Cove Cottage is situated in one of our favourite destinations- Priest's Cove on Cape Cornwall. The cottage overlooks the Brisons and has one of the best viewpoints in the country. The cottage has every thing you need for a perfect week. The beds are comfortable and the rooms downstairs are spacious and well appointed. We spent most of our time in the Sun lounge overlooking the sea. A perfect place for coastal walks and bird watching. We saw our first pair of Coughs too.

Cove cottage is perfection location, comfort, privacy and peace. We loved it. It was our 50th Wedding Anniversary so we booked the week to enjoy the cottage. Weather wise it was a mixed week but honestly it does not matter the cottage is just as perfect when the wind is howling outside and the rain is lashing at the windows it is so cosy. Breath-taking sunsets come out of nowhere even when just a few hours ago the sky is full of cloud. We shall come back.

Amazing location and the house is very comfortable. We will be coming back!

Beautiful peaceful spot, always great to stay here

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, a place where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings

An absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location - would definitely come back!

Fantastic location. Watching the changing sea views was amazing. Very peaceful apart from minor car noise from NT car park. People peering over the wall into our patio area was a bit disconcerting at times. A bit unnerving when you are taking your morning coffee or afternoon tiffin! Cottage itself lovely. Nicely furnished. Anyone with dodgy knees like me need to take care on the steps down to the front door. Overall a 9/10.

Reply from Aspects Holidays

Thank you for your comments. It is wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the fantastic location and those stunning ever-changing sea views! Being in such an amazing location, right in the heart of beautiful National Trust land can come with the risk of passers looking at your property with envy and of course cars arriving to use the neighbouring car park, which we try to show as clearly as possible within the photos so that guests will know what to expect from this location. Fortunately, most people are very respectful, and the volume of traffic and passers greatly reduces during 'off-peak' weeks, so you get to enjoy those stunning views with greater privacy. There are a few steep steps up to the property, so this is definitely something that should be considered for anyone with limited mobility or those that struggle with steps. We hope that they didn't cause you too much of a problem and was what you had expected from the write up on the property. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon. Tanya, Customer Services

A lovely cottage situated in this dramatic location. Ideal for exploring this stunning location and at the end of the day to sit and watch the seas.

Choose Cove Cottage for its stunning location and well equipped living accommodation. Sunsets, starry skies, views and walking all amazing. Steps and stairs both inside and out may prove challenging for the less mobile.

Fabulous location and cottage which lived up to all expectations A magical place

Location and cottage are both brilliant. We loved everything about it. It was always lovely to come back and know it would be warm and toasty inside. Woodburner was a great addition too. To wake up each morning to that spectacular view was a real treat.
