Falmouth Oyster Festival | October 2011

Opening this year’s Falmouth Oyster Food Festival was 2011 MasterChef Champion Tim Anderson, who effortlessly created a rather unattractive Japanese dish, however from looking around at the satisfied nods and murmurs from lucky samplers, it must have tasted better than it looked!

The festival, which marks the start of the traditional oyster dredging season showcases some of the freshest seafood, with steaming paella, dresssed crab and of course fresh oysters. However it’s not all about the food, there is also a fantastic selection of local craft stalls, perfect for purchasing (dare I say it) Christmas gifts.

As well as a marquee brimming with local wine, ale, crafts and produce, you’ll also find live music and entertainment, an oyster shucking competition and fun for the kids with shell painting and free entry into the National Maritime Museum Cornwall with every full paying adult.

The event will run from the 13th until Sunday 16th  October and will take place in Falmouth’s Events Square (Discovery Quay).
